Milwaukee’s hip-hop community is mourning Funny $Money and Ym LilShiesty, two local rappers who died in a shooting at a recording studio on August 17. Authorities identified them as Quentene Williams, 33, and Dequaiseon D. Evans, 21.

Police said the men were found inside a commercial building near 31st Street and Cameron Avenue. A 28-year-old suspect was arrested, and the matter was referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office. Family members described the two as friends and said Funny $Money had mentored the younger artist. Their deaths are therefore not only a personal loss to two families but also a loss of collaboration, experience and emerging talent from a music community that has recently drawn wider national attention.
