Milwaukee’s hip-hop community is mourning Funny $Money and Ym LilShiesty, two local rappers who died in a shooting at a recording studio on August 17. Authorities identified them as Quentene Williams, 33, and Dequaiseon D. Evans, 21.

Police said the men were found inside a commercial building near 31st Street and Cameron Avenue. A 28-year-old suspect was arrested, and the matter was referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office. At the time of the latest public reporting, investigators had not announced a motive. An arrest is not a conviction, and TheRapReporter is not naming the person without a confirmed charging record.

Williams performed as Funny $Money and had become an important connector in Milwaukee’s growing rap scene. That catalogue placed him inside a Milwaukee scene known for quick wit, unusual rhythms and artists who build strong local audiences before national publications catch up. His role as a collaborator mattered because regional scenes depend on people who share studio space, introduce artists and keep creative momentum moving between releases.

Evans, who performed as Ym LilShiesty and was also identified in local reporting as Lil Sheisty, was remembered by relatives as family-oriented and devoted to his three children. His twin sister told FOX6 that listening to his music had helped her feel close to him after his death.
